What makes AC work in West Palm Beach different
West Palm Beach runs from 1920s historic bungalows in El Cid and Flamingo Park, through a downtown high-rise core, out to Century Village — one of the largest age-restricted condo communities in Florida. Each of those is a distinct job. The historic districts have design review and homes that were never built for ductwork. Century Village has association rules and 1960s-70s electrical. Downtown has building management. The one thing they share is a long, punishing cooling season.
West Palm Beach neighborhoods and what they need
Housing stock, association rules and equipment access change from block to block. This is what we plan for before we quote.
- El Cid ZIP 33401
1920s Mediterranean and mission homes in a historic district. Ductless retrofits are frequently the only sensible answer.
- Flamingo Park ZIP 33401
1920s-30s bungalows, historic district review on visible exterior equipment.
- Century Village WPB ZIP 33417
Very large age-restricted condo community. Association approval, original electrical, tightly scheduled access.
- Northwood Shores ZIP 33407
1920s-40s homes being renovated. Original electrical and duct-free retrofits common.
- Southend / Prospect Park ZIP 33405
1940s-50s homes on smaller lots. Electrical capacity is the usual constraint.
- Downtown / Clematis ZIP 33401
High-rise condo. Building-managed access and approved-contractor requirements.
The four issues we plan for in West Palm Beach
- Historic district design review on exterior equipment visible from the street in El Cid and Flamingo Park
- 1920s-40s homes with no practical route for conventional ductwork, where ductless is the correct design rather than a compromise
- Century Village association approval plus original 1960s-70s electrical service
- Original undersized electrical across much of the pre-war housing stock
Who permits AC work in West Palm Beach
City of West Palm Beach Development Services, with Palm Beach County product approval. Palm Beach County isn't in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, but new outdoor units still have to be anchored to the Florida Building Code wind requirements.
Florida requires AC repair, replacement and refrigerant work to be done by a state-licensed air-conditioning contractor. Ask any company quoting your job for its CAC license number and whether the permit is included in the price. Ours is included, and we'll give you the license number in writing.
