Carrier's residential lines fall into three tiers: Comfort (single-stage), Performance (often two-stage) and Infinity (variable-speed, with a communicating thermostat and controls). Bryant, Carrier's sister brand, uses closely related equipment. We also work on Carrier package units and light-commercial rooftop units.
What we see most on Carrier systems here
- Capacitors and contactors: heat and surge wear, like any brand in our climate.
- Communication faults on Infinity systems: the thermostat, indoor and outdoor units talk to each other, and wiring or board problems show up as error codes rather than a simple failure.
- Variable-speed (ECM) blower motors on higher-end models.
- Coil leaks on coastal units, where salt air corrodes aluminum and copper faster.
- Reversing valves and defrost controls on Carrier heat pumps.
Warranty basics
Carrier's parts coverage generally depends on registering the equipment within the manufacturer's window after installation; unregistered units usually get shorter coverage. Check your warranty certificate or Carrier's warranty lookup with your serial number. Manufacturer warranties generally cover parts, not labor. When we install a new system we register it in your name and put our labor terms in writing before you sign.
Replacing a Carrier
If your Carrier is old, on R-22, or needs a compressor or coil, we'll give you an honest repair-or-replace comparison. Replacements are sized by Manual J and can be Carrier or another brand you prefer.
