What makes AC work in Plantation different
Plantation is inland central Broward, built largely between the 1960s and the 1980s, with one distinctive feature: Plantation Acres, a large-lot semi-rural section on the west side with acreage properties, outbuildings and long equipment runs. The rest of the city is conventional suburban stock now well past the age where original ductwork and electrical need honest evaluation before anyone quotes a new condenser.
Plantation neighborhoods and what they need
Housing stock, association rules and equipment access change from block to block. This is what we plan for before we quote.
- Plantation Acres ZIP 33324
Large-lot acreage properties on the west side. Long line sets, outbuildings, sometimes well and septic infrastructure.
- Jacaranda ZIP 33322
1970s-80s golf-community single-family. Original ductwork is frequently the real problem, not the equipment.
- Plantation Isles ZIP 33317
1960s-70s homes on canals. Established neighborhood, original electrical common.
- Lauderdale West ZIP 33313
Age-restricted community. Association approval and scheduled access.
- Central Plantation / Plantation Park ZIP 33317
1960s stock, modest square footage, electrical capacity the usual constraint.
- Hawks Landing / Sunset Strip ZIP 33323
Newer 1990s-2000s construction now reaching first replacement.
The four issues we plan for in Plantation
- Original 1960s-70s ductwork in unconditioned attics leaking cooled air before it reaches the room
- Long refrigerant line runs on Plantation Acres properties, where slow leaks present as a compressor problem
- Original electrical service in 1960s central Plantation homes that cannot carry modern equipment
- Oversized replacement systems sized by copying the old unit, which short-cycle and leave the house humid
Who permits AC work in Plantation
City of Plantation Building Department, with Broward County product approval. Plantation is in Broward County, part of Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, so outdoor units and their tie-downs must carry product approval for the zone.
Florida requires AC repair, replacement and refrigerant work to be done by a state-licensed air-conditioning contractor. Ask any company quoting your job for its CAC license number and whether the permit is included in the price. Ours is included, and we'll give you the license number in writing.
